Feast of the Hare 2024

When: Saturday, November 9th 2024

The Feast of the Hare is Skraeling Althings’s most enduring event, first celebrated in our Eastern lands in AS 13.

This year marks the 45th iteration of the Feast of the Hare. We look forward to hosting another grand occasion featuring tournaments of valour and finesse, including both armoured combat and rapier. Attendees can enjoy delicious food, refreshing drinks, and a lively mix of songs and stories.

We eagerly anticipate welcoming newcomers and rekindling old friendships.

Schedule

Armoured Combat

Weather permitting, the fighting will take place on the grass in front of the building

11:00 am inspections and authorizations

11:30 to noon : inspections and reservations for tournaments

12:00: Baronial Championship Tournament

13:00 HM Double Elimination Tournament ( registration is open until the start of the tournament)

Registration of this will be open until the start of this tournament. There will be 2 lists going for this tourney – for those that get eliminated or do not want to participate in this tourney I am hoping to have an area setup for pickups

If time permits either a warlord tourney or bearpit tourney

Off to the side I intend an open list for pickups. I will have some bottled water ( remember to bring water vessels) I will also have some pickles laid out.

Rapier Activities

Weather permitting, Rapier competitions will take place outside. If the weather is inclement, it will be inside a small gym

The gym is only available in the late morning and is shared with armoured combat. If that is the case the schedule below will be modified.

The Plan

  • Their Majesties’ Second of the Triple Tournament Challenge
  • Youth Rapier
  • Ealdormere Academy of Defense prize fights
  • Sparring for Everyone!!!

The current plan is to have Youth Rapier and the EAoD challenges in the morning. After lunch it will the Triple Tournament Challenge, with if time permits a small fun tourney afterwards. During the prize fights there will be a second list space being used for youth rapier and pickups/warm-ups

Schedule:

9:30:  If more Marshals are available we will begin inspections, authorizations and warm-ups

10:30:  EAoD Cadet Prize bouts

11:15: Youth Rapier begins (earlier if I have enough marshals and the prize fights are running smoothly)

Noon: EAoD Scholar Prize bouts (lunch is also available)

1:00: Open the list for sign-ups for the Triple Tournament Challenge

1:30: Second of Their Majesties’ Triple Tournament Challenge Afterwards

If time permits, I’ll organize an open tournament for all

Notes:

  1. During the Youth Rapier I only have 2 youth for sure, but even non-authorized youth can participate.
  2. During the EAoD counted bouts only members of the EAoD and challengers may participate.
  3. I will have a second list available later in the morning for sparring and could run a minor tourney there if there is interest.
