Dear Barony,
His Excellency, Sir Brand has provided an update on the polling for the approval of the Baronial name change to myself, the Kingdom Seneschal and Their Excellencies Joffr and Dubhessa.
With 104 paid members, the requirement by the College of Arms to accept a name change is a submission with an accompanying petition supported by 53 paid members of the group, including the ruling nobles. After almost six months, we have not achieved that — we have 35 members in favour, 34 against, and 6 abstentions.
While visiting local meetings and events in Caldthirig and Greyfells, I received unofficial feedback from the baronial population – people both in favour and against the name change are fatigued by this issue, and just want to see an end to it, one way or another after almost five years of debate and discussion,
I do not believe this petition can be successful.
As well, I would like to recommend, given the fatigue, and the upcoming baronial selection process, that perhaps you place a moratorium on any further polling, deliberations or proposed name changes for the next two years, to give the Barony a chance to have some relief from this ongoing debate.
The Kingdom Seneschal agrees with this recommendation and therefore the name of the Barony will remain Skraeling Althing. Due to the fatigue of this topic there will be a break/moratorium for two years. This discussion can be reopened in March 2028.
In service,
Eluned verch Angor, OL
Baronial Seneschal
