Greetings unto the populace of Skraeling Althing from Baron and Baroness, Shahid and Catherine.
It was wonderful to see so many souls braving the weather to come out to Our Baronial Twelfth night. Our hearts were as light as Our heads after handing off all ceremonial duties to a wonderful King and Queen of Misule, Lord Laurenz Tonnemacher and Lady Elsebeth Ffarberyn. Taxes for the coming year were announced. This year, Our taxes are ‘personal heraldic display’ (more information is in the chronicle).
Tournoi du Coeur de Glace brought Us the first tournament of the new year. Again We were pleased to see such a large contingent of Skraels brave the cold weather. We would like to congratulate Lord Dafydd ap Alan for placing fourth in the rapier tournament, and Mistress AElfwyn et Langanwuda for placing fourth in the armoured combat tournament. We would also like to congratulate Our armoured combat champion Lord Michael of Easterbrooke, for his own great showing at this most honourable tourney. Further we would like to thank Lady Avelyn Wexcombe, Lord Edward of Flaming Sky, Lord George Warde (who fought in Her Excellency Catherine’s name), Lady Gwendolyn of Aldburg, Lord James Edgarson, and Lord Sven Gunnolfr Ragnaldson for their showing in the armoured combat tournament, Baron Giovanni de Enzinas who fought in both the armoured combat and rapier tournaments, and Baroness Kersteken Janzdochtere for her showing in the rapier list. We would also like to thank Lady Jane Greenhill, Lady Marguerite Gingraix and Lady Pesha the Gypsy for their service in Her Majesty’s entourage.
We had a large Skraeling contingent brave the roads to make the long trek to Market Day at Birka in the Barony of Stonemarche. It was Our first time attending this event, but it will not be Our last.
