Letter to the Barony; Tournoi du Coeur de Glace and Practicum

Greetings unto the populace of Skraeling Althing from Baron and Baroness, Shahid and Catherine.

Tournoi du Coeur de Glace brought Us the first tournament of the new year. We were pleased to see such a large contingent of Skraels brave the cold weather. We would like to congratulate all of the combatants: Sir Menken Brechen, Mistress AElfwyn et Langanwuda, Sir Varakii Varenko Vikovitch, Mistress Kersteken Janzdochtere, Master Giovanni de ‘Eniznas, TH Lord Sven Gunnolfr Ragnaldson, TH Lord Edward of Flaming Sky, Lord Laurenz Tonnemacher, Lady Gwendolyn of Aldburg, Lady Alienor la fileuse, Lord James Edgarson, and Lord Gottfried von Hengstberg.

We would also especially like to congratulate Mistress Kersteken Janzdochtere and Lord Gottfried von Hengstberg on receiving their Award of the Scarlet Banners.

It was amazing to see such fantastic numbers at Practicum. We had 187 people in attendance, including 28 teachers. We are pleased to see an interest in such pursuits as the study of the Middle Ages is one of the core principles of Our Society. Thank you to the event staff, teachers, students, and others that came out to make this a fantastic event.

We are always inspired by the people of this Barony. It was Our joy to witness so many of you receive recognition from the hands of Their Royal Majesties. We were honoured to be in attendance at the making of the Premier member of the Order of Defence, Master Giovanni de Enzinas. We also wish to congratulate TH Lady Avelyn Wexcombe on her admittance to Order of the Wain, and Lord Laurenz Tonnemacher and Lord Martin Brua who both received the Award of the Scarlet Banner. These awards are well deserved and We are proud of each and every one of you!

We also had the pleasure of personally award Lord Martin Brua to the Order of the Black Hare and Lord Ian MacDougall of Skye (belatedly) to the Order of the Black Hare.

We look forward to seeing many of you at Break the Belt of Winter on March 12th in Our Canton of Greyfells.

In Service,
Shahid and Catherine
Baron and Baroness of Skraeling Althing
