Greetings unto the skilled populace of Skraeling Althing from Baron Shahid and Baroness Catherine.
It was wonderful to see so many Skraels at Ealdormere’s first Spring Arts & Sciences. With a very large attendance, it was a very busy and exciting (not to mention crowded) event.
We wish to thank those from Skraeling Althing that participated either by entering or by judging. We had, by Our count, 12 entrants from Skraeling Althing – winning three of the five categories:
- Textile & Needle Arts – Lady Jane Greenhill with a French Hood
- Technological Sciences – Mistress Ælfwyn of Longwood with a 14th century leather scabbard
- Studio Crafts – TH Lady Marguerite Gingraix with – Cadel, Jacques Delvaulx (16th century hand)
We would particularly like to thank Our own Constance of Caldrithig for representing Skraeling Althing in the Pentathlon. We hope everyone had a chance to see and talk with Constance about her
embroidery, sewing, metalwork, calligraphy, and cooking.
With such talented artisans as this We are sure that Our Barony will remain well fed, well clothed, and well equipped for many years to come. Wassail!
We were also able to bestow the largesse allocated to the Kingdom from Our Dirty Dozen Donation Derby, held at Break the Back of Winter. Their Majesties were greatly moved by the generosity of Our artisans. We wish to convey Our gratitude to those that participated and allowed Us the honour of presenting such a gift.
It was Our joy to witness Skraels receive recognition from the hands of Their Royal Majesties while so far from home. We wish to congratulate The Honourable Lady Marguerite Gingraix on her acceptance into the Order of the Crucible, and Lady Avelyn Wexcombe of Great Bedwyn on receiving the Award of the Scarlet Banner.
We always love hearing about the good things people are doing in this Barony. We would encourage anyone who feels a gentle is deserving of an award, either Kingdom or Baronial, to please write them in. Skraeling Althing has an online form here, and the Ealdormere form is here.
We look forward to renewing Our vows of fealty at the Coronation of Sir Siegfried Brandboern and Mistress Ragni Dzintara, Prince and Princess of Ealdormere, in the Barony of Rising Waters and hope to see many of Our people in attendance.
In Service,
Shahid and Catherine
Baron and Baroness of Skraeling Althing
